The Secret Power of Time

When it comes about time we have two options. The first option and the most obvious one is to measure it in seconds, hours, days, months, years and so on. The second options is to give it a significance. But how do we give time that importance?
Being present in your life, being there when things happen is the only way to enjoy your existence. We need to understand that our happiness and well being are affected by our relationship with time: past, present and future. Is like having three children and maintaining positive relationships with all three. First you need to accept them for what they are, second you need to enjoy every moment of their life and third is to dream and send positive vibes towards their future existence.
Creating healthy relationships with these three perspectives of time will help you develop. Is like keeping a positive relationship with your past while enjoying every moment of your present and keeping one eye open for the future. You need somehow to keep a balance. Do not be too focus on the past, the past cannot be change. The only thing that we can do about it is to give it a new significance. To relive it in a different manner. If you manage to have a positive perspective of the past, it will give you lovely memories and an identity defined by happiness and a meaningful childhood. Having a negative perspective of the past  means that every time you think about your past you see only bad experiences or you feel sad, unhappy or frustrated by things that you cannot change. Having this attitude towards the past is a waste of time and also a road with an end in your evolution. You need to learn when to move on and to accept things that can't be change. Remember being nostalgic is positive while being fearful and haunted is not only negative but also damaging.
Now about present. Being really happy with your present life and present perspectives defines you as a present hedonistic person. Psychology defines hedonistic is the doctrine holding that behavior is motivated by the desire for pleasure and the avoidance of pain. Simply said it is the devotion to pleasure all your senses. The opposite of the present hedonistic person is the present fatalist person. This type of person feels without control over his/her life and will give a big significance to fate. The concept of fate if is not understood will give you no reason to engage with life or to have any autonomy over your life.
If you are a future orientated person it means that you have goals, purpose and direction in life. But you need again to find the balance so you don't forget to enjoy the present.
Being unique and having the freedom gives us the possibility to change what is not working, to accept what cannot be change, develop even the smallest positive idea and to be happy and grateful with what we have.

Happiness can be both immediate or lasting is our option to prefer one over the other. Now some pieces of advice:
  • stop comparing what you have with what other people have
  • lower your expectation so if something great happen your happiness will increase
  • be grateful with what you have
  • accept and stay near what you have chosen
  • limit your choices for better decisions
Important: Your happiness is affected by your relationship to time
Too much choice can affect your happiness

Stay positive!
