The power of being optimistic

I think I can!- as simple as it sounds this expression has a huge impact in making our actions succeed. If you pick up any book or article ever written on optimism you will find out that expectation of the future is what affects the outcome. The positive interpretation or perception of possible events is what brings them closer to reality. A positive perception over life, in general, improves your well-being and can also improve your ability to cope better with less joyful events.
Positive perceptions are like  sunshine and negative ones are like dark clouds. Imagine you are lost in a forest, is close to sunset and you need to find your way out, quite difficult one might say. I am not going to explain you where the North is or so on, I am just trying to say that if in that situation you have a negative perception over the unfortunate event, outside it will get darker maybe not for real maybe is just in your mind, but the truth is... that is darker and you can't see anything. If you think positive there will still be some sunshine left so you can find your path, or your mind would be clear enough to find some solutions. It all depends if you either are an optimist or a pessimist.
Research has shown that  being optimistic can:
  • reduce anger
  • reduce loneliness
  • reduce stress and depression
  • allows better adjustment to new environments
  • increase your self-esteem
  • limit fears
If you are curious to measure your level of optimism you should try the LOTtest by clicking on the link below:http://ehlt.flinders.edu.au/education/DLiT/2006/HelpingHands/LOTtest.pdf
Choose optimism!

Stay positive!
